I.EducationalObjectives
The Japanese (forFinance and Economics) program aims tonurtureapplication-oriented and interdisciplinary talents with profound patriotism, a strong sense of social responsibility, a solid foundation in Japanese language and culture, extensive knowledge in finance and economics, and strong practical abilities. Through four years of specialized training, students will become proficient in using Japanese to engage in language services, management, and research within domestic and international sectors such as finance, banking, foreign affairs, culture, science and technology, tourism, and education. Within five years of graduation, students are expected to become key professionals or managerial personnel in thefieldsmentioned above.
II. Program Requirements
In accordance with the fundamental objectives of Japanese language education, the program is divided into a foundational stage and an advanced stage. The foundational stage focuses on teaching core Japanese language knowledge, providing comprehensive and rigorous training in fundamental language skills, and developing students’practical language proficiency, alongside introductory courses in the finance and economics track. The advanced stage continues to strengthen language fundamentals while emphasizing the development of specialized skills in the finance and economics.Tograduate, students must pass either the Test for Japanese Majors Band 4(TEM-4), the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test N1(JLPT N1), or the J.TEST with a score of Pre-B(700 points or above).Additionally, the program cultivates students’ideological, moral qualities, and humanistic literacy through innovative courses integrating ideological and political education. Practical courses enhance students’independent thinking and innovative capabilities in real-world work settings. Research-oriented courses develop students’ability to conduct fundamental scientific research. Specifically, graduates of this program should possess the following qualities and competencies:
1.Sound Worldview, Outlook on Life, and Values:Possess solid professional competence alongsidegoodideologicalandmoral qualities; be proficient in Japanese and familiar with Japanese culture, while demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility, collaborative spirit, and innovative mindset.
2.Solid Japanese Language Proficiency:Demonstrate correct pronunciation and intonation; master normative grammar, syntax, and discourse structure(including word choice, sentence construction, and text organization); communicate appropriately; and possess proficient listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation skills, exhibiting strong comprehensive Japanese language ability.
3.Specialized Knowledge in Finance and Economics:Leveraging the disciplinary strengths of our comprehensive university focused on finance and economics, students will master fundamental theoretical knowledge in finance and economics through courses suchasMicroeconomics, Macroeconomics, Accounting, and Finance.
4.Strong cross-cultural Communication Competence:Through courses like Japanese History, Japanese Literature, Japanese Society, andAComparative study ofChinese and JapaneseEconomies and Cultures, students will broaden their knowledge base and enhance their sensitivity andtolerance towards foreign cultures, as well as their flexibility in handling cultural differences.

6.Information Literacy and Research Skills:Master basic methods for literature
retrieval, data inquiry, and utilizing modern information technology to acquire and process relevant information. Possess the ability to proficiently use Japanese reference materials (dictionaries, handbooks, etc.) to acquire knowledge and independently solve problems related to language and culture learning. Understand academic norms, possess basic research capabilities, and demonstrate a degree of innovative research potential.
7.Strong Self-Learning, Analytical, and Problem-Solving Abilities:Possess
sound psychological qualities and aesthetic literacy; demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork.
III. Program Duration,Credit Requirements, andAcademic Degree
The program has a standard duration of four years.
To graduate, students must complete a minimum total of 154 credits, structured across five distinct modules. This includes 11 credits from General Education Courses, 31 credits from Public Required Courses, and 67 credits from Core Foundation Courses. The Public Elective Courses module requires 34 credits, with students mandated to take at least 19 credits in AdvancedMajorCourses and a minimum of 15 credits inProfessionalDevelopmentCourses. Additionally, 11 credits are allocated to Practical Training components.
Credits forMajorElectiveCoursesmay be obtained not only through courses specified in the program’sRecommended Study Planbut also via enrollment in designated Certificate Programs or university-wide elective courses. Detailed policies governing participation in Certificate Programs and university-wide electivecoursesare outlined in their respective institutional guidelines.
Upon fulfilling all academic requirements, graduates are conferred the degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).
