About
Established in December 2006, the School of Foreign Studies evolved from the Department of Foreign Languages and the Foreign Language Teaching Division of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE).
Through years of development, the School has established an interdisciplinary and mutually supportive framework for teaching and research that integrates foreign language and literature studies with economic- and management-related disciplines.
Currently, the School comprises the Department of English, the Department of Japanese, the Department of Translation and Interpreting, and the College English Division. It also hosts three research institutes: Institute for International Communication of Chinese Culture, Institute for Ecological Literature Studies, and Institute for Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Studies.
The School’s Experimental Teaching Center for Finance and Foreign Languages has been listed as a Beijing Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center.
The School boasts vast development potential with the authority to confer Master’s degrees in the First-Level Discipline of Foreign Language and Literature and to confer Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI).
To meet the demands of socioeconomic development, at the undergraduate level, it offers three programs: English (Professional Financial English), Japanese (Professional Financial Japanese), and Translation (Professional Financial Translation). These programs nurture practice-oriented and interdisciplinary talents with solid foundation in foreign languages and cultures, extensive knowledge in finance and economics, proficient translation skills, and cross-cultural communication competence.
Leveraging CUFE’s strengths in finance, accounting, and related fields, we pioneer a distinctive talent development model focused on building its“Language Plus Finance and Economics”academic profile.
Presently, the school is home to 73 faculty members, consisting of 63 full-time teachers and 10 administrative staff with a well-structured and high-quality faculty team.
