I. Program Introduction
The Translation major is guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It is positioned to cultivateglobally competitive, versatile professionals with applied expertisewho possess a solid foundation in English language and culture, broad knowledge of finance and economics, proficient translation skills, cross-cultural business communication abilities, a strong sense of national mission and social responsibility, international perspectives, innovative spirit, and practical competence.
In 2002, Central University of Finance and Economics established theSchoolof Foreign Languages. In 2006, the School of ForeignStudieswas founded. The Translation program (forFinance and Economics)was officially launched in 2015. In 2018, the School obtained authorization for the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) degree and first-tier discipline authorization to confer Master’s degrees in Foreign Languages and Literatures. The program was designated a Beijing First-Class Undergraduate Program in 2022.
The Translation program boasts a strong teaching and research faculty. The current dedicated teaching team comprises 11 full-time members, including 1“Longma Young Scholar”and 1“Elite Scholar”of the university. Among them are 6 Master’s supervisors, 6 returnees from overseas studies, 2 Professors, and 4 Associate Professors. All faculty members hold doctoral degrees(100%)and possess international academic experience. Faculty have led multiple National Social Science Fund projects and provincialandministerial-level research initiatives, publishing numerous high-impact academic papers, monographs, translated works, and textbooks. This has fostered a comprehensive teaching and research system integrating Foreign Languages and Literatures with Economics and Management disciplines.
The Translation program adheres to the“nurtureeveryone during the entire process and in all aspects”principle, with a distinct focus on developing its“Finance and Economics Focus.”It has established a specialized curriculum characterized by“Translation+Finance and Economics.”The program admits students under a broad category system, implementing a first-year common track in Foreign Languages and Literature.
The graduates enjoy broad prospects for further studies in fields like linguistics, economics, and management.Alumni excel in financial institutions, accounting firms, media, and foreign affairs offices of enterprise.Additionally, graduates receive high recognition and acclaim from employers.
II.Graduation Objectives

VI. Key LaboratoryandPractical Teaching Requirements
The Translation program emphasizes the integration of theoretical coursework with practical application, with multiple translation courses incorporating extensive exercises and hands-on training. Professional practical instruction further includes health and safety education, labor practice, innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives, graduation internship, and graduation thesis/project. Additionally, students engage in supplementary social practice activities through diverse channels beyond formal academic schedules.
The practical teaching component aims to foster students’all-round development and primarily includes professional internships, innovation and entrepreneurship practice, social practice, and international exchange. Professional internships are designed to cultivate students’ability to apply professional knowledge and skills to solve practical problems. Innovation and entrepreneurship practice aims to develop students’problem-solving abilities and innovationandentrepreneurship skills through activities such as subject competitions, study interest groups, academic societies, and innovationandstartup projects. Social practice helps students understand social and national conditions while enhancing their sense of social responsibility through activities including social surveys, volunteer services, public welfare activities, work-study programs, and volunteer teaching. International exchange seeks to broaden students’international perspectives and enhance cross-cultural competencies through diverse programs such as summer international camps and short-term study abroad, facilitated through the university’s overseas study programs.
