Objectives
The program aims to cultivate high-level, versatile, and practice-oriented translation professionals with a strong sense of patriotism, a global perspective, a solid bilingual foundation in English and Chinese, strong translation capabilities, and a broad knowledge of finance and economics. These graduates will be equipped to meet the demands of national economic development, cultural development, and social needs.
Requirements for Candidates
The Master of Translation and Interpreting program is open to graduates with bachelor’s degree from accredited universities in China and abroad. Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, possess sound moral integrity, and have a solid foundation in foreign language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). They should demonstrate basic translation abilities between Chinese and English, possess a foundational understanding of translation theories, and aspire to engage in translation practice. Selection of students will be based on the graduates admission examination, second-round evaluation, and interviews organized by Central University of Finance and Economics.
Curriculum Structure
In line with the training objectives, this program has carefully designed its curriculum structure, emphasizing innovation-driven education, finance-led instruction, and technology empowerment. It primarily adopts a “industry-academia collaboration” and “modular training”, consisting of three core modules: “Foundations of Translation,” “Financial Knowledge,” and “Practical Skills.”
The “Foundations of Translation” module aims to solidify students’ theoretical understanding of translation, enhancing their practical abilities.
The “Financial Knowledge” module is designed to enrich students’ understanding of finance and economics, thereby improving their knowledge reserve in these areas.
The “Practical Skills” module focuses on improving students’ information and technology literacy and their ability to manage linguistic assets for translation. By offering these courses, the program integrates translation theory, financial knowledge, and information technology to comprehensively develop students’ professional competencies and innovative abilities in translation practices.
